Sustainable building management: Interview with Daniel Worm, Founder of axcorn GmbH

The interview was conducted with Daniel Worm. Founder and managing director of axcorn GmbH. If you would like to find out more about the digitalization of sustainability processes in companies, then take a look at Building Scout!

How did you come up with the idea for BuildingScout?

Our software solution Building Scout was developed in the research environment of a climate-neutral campus at the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart. Students, teachers and researchers were working on a project with the task to look for concepts for a sustainable company.

We applied and received funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany (BMWi). Driven by the idea of digitalization and simplifying business processes in the field of sustainability, we decided to develop user-friendly B2B cloud solutions.

What exactly are you doing now?

Our team was able to successfully complete the development within the funding period by working together with companies and other partners from the auditing industry. As a result, we offer companies with ambitious sustainability managers a cloud-based digital toolbox.

Whether at a PC workstation or remotely via mobile device, the application offers a comprehensive and user-friendly visualization of building structures and operational processes. This way, an evaluation of sustainability strategies and processes is implemented profitably.

We were actively supported by our mentors Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Coors and Prof. Dr. Tobias Popović during the realisation of our innovative concept.

What are your current challenges?

For SMEs, the digitalization of business processes is an important task in order to increase future productivity. The first steps in implementing digital approaches are always the hardest. SMEs are often unsure of finding the right entry point.

Here we must provide information and let them see for themselves during tests that our software is the right choice because it helps to find a starting point into the digitalization process due to the low implementation and training costs.

What is your vision for BuildingScout?

Many SMEs are already very receptive to a company-wide implementation process for a sustainable way of working. For these companies, we want to be a competent partner by providing innovative and sustainable software solutions.

This way we will be helping digital transformation step by step. Building Scout is a go-to solution for fast implementation by using visual support and educational tools for sustainable corporate management.
